Awesome Carmex Moisture Plus deal I got at Walgreens!

I have been meaning to write about this one for a while! While rummaging through the clearance bins in my local Walgreens (one of my favorite places in the whole wide world) I came across these Carmex Moisture Plus lip balms tinted in a pretty shade of pink.

I’m normally not much for Carmex, but I liked the color and I knew I had a coupon. Unfortunately it was at home. What is a girl to do? I hid them behind the suppositories and hoped nobody would find them. There were plenty there, so I was sure they would be safe. I returned the next day, coupons in hand, and scooped them up.

The coupons I had were $.75 off of one, and I had two coupons, which made these totally free!

It was a great deal!*

*I know my photography is truly crappy, but I gave up trying to get cute photos because I was tired of contorting myself trying to find the light.

What are some of the best deals you have found? Answer in comments!

I’m back!

OK, my break is over and I am ready to start posting again! I am in the middle of going through comments and marking them as spam, apparently there are a lot of people who think I have a serious interest in fake Chanel bags. Once I am done sifting through all of the comments I have sitting in purgatory, I will be back with a brand-new post about a recent deal.

It’s been a while…

I’ve been off the grid for a month or so, and I apologize. My mother had a stroke, and I basically freaked out and needed some time away to be at the hospital and to help her get better. I am happy to say that she is doing a lot better and is on the road to recovery. I hope to return soon, but I wanted to leave a message to account for my absence. Thanks to those of you who continue to check this site, and happy holidays to you all!

What I Bought Today at Pick ‘N Save Double Daze

Usually I sit down and plan and plot my deals, much like a savings detective. However, I was so busy today and then ended up staying late at work, so I was unable to do any pre-planning. So today’s shopping was done entirely on-the-fly. It still turned out OK!

What I bought at the store today:
8 oz. can of mushrooms (I don’t recall putting these in my cart and I have no idea where they came from!)
36 oz Ketchup (Catsup?)
2 2 Liter Diet Sierra Mist
2 12 packs Dr Pepper 10 (Man soda! Hope I don’t grow a beard!)
2 bags Harvest Cheddar Sun Chips (What happened to the Jalapeno Jack?)
1 can vanilla frosting
1 Funfetti Cake Mix
1 Skippy Peanut Butter
2 Ronzoni Garden Delights Pasta (Liked it better when the spaghetti was 3 colors!)
1 loaf Multigrain bread
3 Dole frozen berries
1 bag of Tyson Chicken Patties
2 bottles Garnier Fructis 2 in 1 Shampoo plus conditioner
1 green pepper
2 bunches green onions
1 Vidalia onion
1 container of Baby Bella mushrooms
2 bags Fresh Express Salad
1 light cream cheese
1 Kraft Big Slice Mild Cheddar
Whole Wheat Bagels

Before store card and coupons, this was $77.81. With store card and coupons, I was able to get it down to 36.45! Not bad for no planning!

Hmm…

What’s this you say? I have a website? I guess I forgot! No, just been busy with Olympics-mania and analyzing the Rob and Kristen breakup! Right now I’m baking banana bread and I hope to be back tomorrow with a list of grocery savings if I ever get it together enough to clip some coupons and make a list!

Saving money with a garden…?

I live in an apartment building with no room to plant, so I have a small container garden on the patio. Each tenant is limited to 4 containers, so I planted 2 containers of zucchini, 1 green pepper plant and one cherry tomato plant. I’m really looking forward to some nice fresh produce!

I had visions of walking through the back door with a bushel basket overflowing with produce. However, I don’t own a bushel basket, and so far I have one oddly shaped green pepper growing and one branch of my tomato plant has 7 green tomatoes and the rest are empty. The zucchini plant has blossoms, but no zucchini yet. I know this because I keep walking out there and staring it down – willing it to bear fruit.

I guess I’m so used to being able to walk into a store and pick things off the shelf that I need to develop the patience to watch my little garden grow. It’s just as well that my zucchini hasn’t grown yet, I’m out of olive oil!

Double-Double Daze at Pick N’ Save on Saturday!

Get your binders out…It’s time for Double-Double Daze at Pick N’ Save on Saturday! This means you can double 10 manufacturers’ coupons (up to $1) instead of the usual 5. I can’t wait for the flyer to come tomorrow so I can pick out my deals. I hope there are some good air fresheners on sale, I’m all out! Other things I’m always looking for are garbage bags (soooo expensive lately!) beverages and stuff to stock my freezer. What will you be looking for?

Site will be changing…

While I enjoy helping people save money, I am ditching the top 5 items at each store per week format, effective as of this week. I’m doing it because there are so many sites with the same information, and frankly, it’s a little boring. I’ll still post individual deals here and there that I think are outstanding, but I want to shift my focus to more interesting articles and product reviews that I think will be a little more enjoyable to read and write. I’d like to talk about recipes, crafts, and being frugal in different ways, not just coupons. I hope you enjoy the changes. Having a website is new to me, and I am sure as I grow into it, the site will grow with me as well. Thanks for reading!
